What does “weighting” mean?

KuStarter will operate a guaranteed allocation for some tiers (as mentioned above). This will work based on the following formula:

Total slots = (number of participants tier 5 * weighting of tier 5)
+ (number of participants tier 4 * weighting of tier 4)
+ (number of participants tier 3 * weighting of tier 3)
+ (number of participants tier 2 * weighting of tier 2)
+ (capped number of participants tier 1 * weighting of tier 1)

Your allocation = (total tokens / total slots) * your weighting

For example, for a project launching on KuStarter with 100,000 token allocation:

If 50 people participate, with a breakdown of:

  • 5 participants @ tier 5
  • 7 participants @ tier 4
  • 15 participants @ tier 3
  • 11 participants @ tier 2
  • 12 participants @ tier 1

We get a total of 126 slots.

(5 * 8) + (7 * 4.5) + (15 * 2.5) + (11 * 1) + (12 * 0.5) = 126

100,000 / 126 = ~793.65 per slot

If you are a Diamond KuStarter member, you would get a guaranteed 6,349.2 tokens.

793.65 * 8 = 6,349.2

If you are a Gold KuStarter member, you would get a guaranteed 1,984.125 tokens.

793.65 * 2.5 = 1,984.125

Got all that?

We know this is a lot to take in. Rest assured, we will do the maths right in our platform (it will be open-source and you can check it out).

So, to summarise:

The more $KUST you have, the more tokens you’ll get that launch on KuStarter.

We can’t wait to show our platform to you!
